Ketch and Constant Contact

Manage list-level subscriptions accurately, with an honest account of one specific thing Constant Contact's own API can't do yet.

Constant Contact

About Constant Contact

Constant Contact helps small businesses build and manage email campaigns through list management and reporting tools. Preference management here works at the list level: a person opts in or out of specific Constant Contact lists, and a global unsubscribe removes them from every list they're on. One limitation is worth knowing plainly: Constant Contact currently has no API to set the profile-level email permission status directly, so a global unsubscribe clears list membership but doesn't update that separate profile field.

Ketch connects to Constant Contact with that limitation stated clearly rather than glossed over.

Capabilities

How Ketch works with Constant Contact

The Ketch Constant Contact integration covers Rights Orchestration (Right to Deletion, Right to Access) and Preference Orchestration.

Rights Orchestration

Right to Access returns the contact information associated with an email address. Right to Delete erases the contact; deleted contacts stop receiving email and no longer count as active contacts in any metrics.

Preference Orchestration

Adds someone to a specific Constant Contact list when they opt in to the corresponding subscription topic, and removes them when they opt out, for contacts that already exist in Constant Contact. Global Unsubscribe removes the contact from every list they're present in, but does not change the email permission status on their profile, since Constant Contact doesn't currently expose an API to set that value directly.

With Ketch, teams can

  • Fulfill Right to Access and Right to Delete requests against Constant Contact through the same workflow used for every other connected system
  • Manage list-level subscription preferences that map directly to Constant Contact's own list structure
  • Know upfront about the profile-level permission status limitation on global unsubscribe, rather than assuming full parity with a list-level removal

The gap

The problem this integration solves

A preference management system needs to work with the platform's actual API surface, and being upfront about a real gap is better than pretending it doesn't exist:

01. Assuming a global unsubscribe fully mirrors what a person would expect (a complete profile-level opt-out) misses a real Constant Contact API limitation

02. Manually removing a contact from every list on an unsubscribe request doesn't scale

03. Preference Orchestration only works for contacts that already exist in Constant Contact, which needs to be understood before assuming coverage

Ketch resolves the second by automating list removal directly, and addresses the first and third by stating both limitations plainly rather than overstating what the integration does.

Why Ketch

Why teams choose Ketch for Constant Contact privacy compliance

Permissioning infrastructure that governs Constant Contact the same way it governs every other system in your stack — not a one-off connector bolted onto a banner.

  • List-level preference management that matches Constant Contact's own structure

Subscribing and unsubscribing map directly to specific Constant Contact lists.

  • Honest about a real API limitation

The profile-level permission status gap on global unsubscribe is stated plainly, not hidden.

  • Backed by enforcement precedent

The California Attorney General reached a $1.55 million settlement with Healthline Media over sharing sensitive data with advertisers without valid consent, a reminder that email marketing platforms carry real exposure when preference management doesn't fully match what a person expects from an unsubscribe.
