Ketch and Google Ads

Remove someone from every Google Ads customer list they're in, and keep an opt-out audience current automatically, across Google's connected advertising products.

About Google Ads

Google Ads sits alongside Display & Video 360 and Campaign Manager 360 as part of a broader Google marketing stack, and audience data (customer lists built from email, phone, or mobile advertiser ID) can span all three. A deletion request that only clears one of those products leaves someone retargeted through the others.

Ketch connects to Google Ads to sweep customer lists across the products Google's own APIs support, and to keep consent signals current on top of that.

Capabilities

How Ketch works with Google Ads

The Ketch Google Ads integration covers Rights Orchestration (Right to Delete, Right to Access) and Consent Orchestration, across Google Ads, Display & Video 360, and Campaign Manager 360. Google's own API support isn't uniform across these products, and the integration reflects that rather than papering over it: Right to Delete works with Google Ads, since Google doesn't support the same deletion functionality in Display & Video 360.On installation, Ketch creates a dedicated opt-out customer list. When someone opts out of behavioral advertising, they're added to it; opting back in removes them.

Rights Orchestration

Deletion requests sweep every customer list in the account except this Ketch-managed opt-out list, so the opt-out signal itself survives a deletion sweep instead of being erased along with everything else.

Consent Orchestration

Layers on top through Google Consent Mode (for sites using a direct `gtag`) or Ketch's native Google Tag Manager integration. Once enabled, Ketch executes the relevant consent settings based on a person's choices for behavioral advertising and personalization purposes, and restricts data processing accordingly; this consent path covers Google Ads, Display & Video 360, and Campaign Manager 360 running gtag directly on the page.

With Ketch, teams can

  • Sweep a deletion request across every Google Ads customer list in an account, while preserving the opt-out list itself from being swept away
  • Maintain a real-time opt-out audience that updates automatically as people change their consent choice, ready to exclude from campaign targeting
  • Orchestrate Google Consent Mode signals across three connected Google marketing products from one integration
  • Know upfront which capabilities Google's own APIs support per product, rather than assuming uniform coverage across Google Ads, DV360, and Campaign Manager 360

The gap

The problem this integration solves

Google's advertising stack spans multiple products with data that can overlap, and Google's own APIs don't support the same privacy operations uniformly across them. That creates a few consistent gaps:

01. A deletion request fulfilled against Google Ads alone can miss data still active in other connected Google products

02. An opt-out audience that isn't actively excluded from campaign targeting doesn't protect anyone, regardless of how well-maintained it is

03. Consent Mode signals have to actually reach every product using gtag on the page, not just the one a team happened to configure first

04. Assuming every Google product supports the same rights operations leads to false confidence about what's actually being fulfilled

Ketch resolves this by being explicit about what's supported per product, and by handling both the deletion sweep and the ongoing opt-out list maintenance as one connected process.

Why Ketch

Why teams choose Ketch for Google Ads privacy compliance

Permissioning infrastructure that governs Google Ads the same way it governs every other system in your stack — not a one-off connector bolted onto a banner.

  • Honest about Google's own API limits

The integration states plainly that Right to Delete works with Google Ads but not Display & Video 360, because that's a real Google limitation, not a Ketch one, and privacy teams need to know it rather than assume otherwise.

  • One opt-out list, actively maintained

The Ketch-managed opt-out customer list updates automatically with every consent change and is deliberately excluded from deletion sweeps, so the signal itself persists.

  • Backed by enforcement precedent

The California Privacy Protection Agency fined Honda $632,000 over improperly configured data sharing with ad-tech partners, a reminder that unused or misconfigured opt-out mechanisms carry real regulatory exposure, not just a technical gap.
