Ketch and Sailthru

Set consent attributes on a customer retention profile, and trigger real tracking opt-out through Sailthru's own mechanism when analytics consent is declined.

Sailthru

About Sailthru

Sailthru personalizes content and recommendations using machine learning across email and web, which means its profiles hold behavioral data alongside standard contact information. When someone opts out of analytics specifically, that needs to do more than set a flag; it needs to actually reduce the tracking Sailthru's own JavaScript performs.

Ketch connects to Sailthru to handle both the attribute-setting and the tracking-behavior side of that.

Capabilities

How Ketch works with Sailthru

The Ketch Sailthru integration covers Consent Orchestration and Rights Orchestration (Right to Deletion, Right to Access).

Consent Orchestration

Sets a custom consent attribute on the user's profile for each purpose, for example setting `analytics-opt-out` to true when someone declines analytics. When analytics is specifically declined, Ketch additionally sets the profile's status to `cookiesDoNotTrack`, which opts the person out of Sailthru's own online tracking; this additional step only takes effect when someone interacts with the Ketch banner and Sailthru's JavaScript is present on the page.

Rights Orchestration

Right to Delete erases the user's profile along with associated records like purchase and pageview history, though this doesn't retroactively change data Sailthru has already aggregated into reports. Right to Access returns the person's information and list memberships.

With Ketch, teams can

  • Set per-purpose consent attributes directly on Sailthru profiles, matched to Ketch's canonical purposes
  • Trigger Sailthru's own `cookiesDoNotTrack` tracking opt-out specifically on analytics decline, not just a generic flag
  • Fulfill Right to Access and Right to Delete requests that reach purchase and pageview records, not just contact fields

The gap

The problem this integration solves

A personalization platform built on behavioral data needs consent decline to translate into real tracking behavior change, not just a stored preference:

01. A consent attribute that's set but doesn't affect Sailthru's actual tracking JavaScript doesn't meaningfully reduce data collection

02. A deletion that only removes contact fields, without purchase and pageview history, leaves behind exactly the data personalization depends on

03. Manually applying consent attributes and deletion requests for every request doesn't scale to real request volume

Ketch resolves the first by tying analytics opt-out to Sailthru's own `cookiesDoNotTrack` mechanism, and the second by erasing associated records alongside the profile itself.

Why Ketch

Why teams choose Ketch for Sailthru privacy compliance

Permissioning infrastructure that governs Sailthru the same way it governs every other system in your stack — not a one-off connector bolted onto a banner.

  • Analytics opt-out that actually changes tracking behavior

Declining analytics doesn't just set an attribute; it enables Sailthru's own `cookiesDoNotTrack` status.

  • Deletion that reaches behavioral records, not just contact fields

Purchase and pageview data are erased alongside the profile itself.

  • Backed by enforcement precedent

The California Privacy Protection Agency fined Honda $632,000 over improperly configured data sharing with ad-tech partners, a reminder that personalization platforms built on tracking data carry real exposure when a consent decline doesn't actually reduce collection.
